Bag, Borrow or Steal

I saw a link to Bag, Borrow or Steal about a month or so ago and made a note to post it on this site. Since then I've seen in mentioned in several other places (like my Real Simple magazine that just arrived today) so I can only assume that the service is really taking off.
The idea is clevely simple. You sign up, pay a monthly fee based on the level of service you desire, and then you get to keep one handbag at a time of your choice to keep for as long as you want.
Makes sense since the "it" handbags change about every month or so, and who can afford to keep buying new all the time? If keeping your bag trendy and your wardrobe refreshed is at the top of you list, but you don't have the cash of the Hilton Sisters, then this may be your answer.

They are really expensive when I think most of the "trendsetter" bags I could buy for $60 use them til I'm tired of them, sell them on eBay and STILL not have spent the $30 it costs to borrow a bag.

Genius! A life saver. A single disgner purse will cost about $1200. You can spend the same amount leasing your purses and appear to ouside observers that you have gone through 12 to 24 plus $1200 dollar bags in a years time. You could customize your purse ordering to match with a particular outfit or a special event. You would be in purse love every couple of weeks.

Did you see that they are now borrowing jewelry? That's just GROSS. Can you imagine putting something in your ear or on your neck that has been worn by tons of people? It would be like sleeping on a nasty hotel bed that you never know what was spilled on it.

To be honest, I thought the service was a terrific idea until I started to use it. The response time is VERY slow in answering questions, the customer service less than polite and the selections for the cost isn't worth it in the end run. There also seems to be a habit of errors occuring for customers. There are are other sites that offer the same service with a much better quality of selection and excellent customer service for a lower cost, such as From Bags To Riches, it's just a matter of looking and finding them.

Renting bags is a great idea, one less thing for my husband to worry about me spending too much on bags. Also I just ran into this other website rentfame.com, they say they will help me rent out my bags to others. This is definately getting interesting
