Banana Republic Bloomsbury Collection
New from Banana Republic is a premium handbag collection called Bloomsbury.
Just from a quick glance at the web site what I notice first is the beautiful colors. Very rich and fall. Especially this shade of Bordeaux.
Although I like the colors I can't say much for originality. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if Marc jacobs has a lawsuit in the works. Swap out the brass rings on the Banana bags for the silver hardward on a MJ bag and it is basically the same thing. Plus the long zip tassle looks very familiar.
Plus on a more functional level, I think it would be dificult to quickly close up all the pockets with the double rings. Looks like that would involve lost of funbling (unless those are actually magnets.)
But then again if you can't pay $900 for a Marc Jacobs bag (WHO can?) then a ~$200 Banana bag is probably a good option.
I do like this leather/nylon "Urban carry all" and anything in Cognac.

I really like those bags -- especially the one you have pictured. I've been meaning to go to the store to check them out in person.
Gap also has some newish bags on their site that look promising. I really like the shape of the "leather jumbo clasp satchel", but wish they wouldn't have made the clasp so logofied.

Good to see you back on the site!!! I agree with you about the similarities on BR's bag with MJ's bag, but so many of the chain retail stores do that. Which I don't mind to much because you can still get a stylish bag for a reasonable price.
I really like the BR Urban carry all though. It's stylish yet functional.

I love that color. Deep rich color. Everyone deserves to have a great bag. It is a beautiful bag. I hope to see some of these kinds of bags at the San Francisco Internantional Gift Fair this weekend.

It's so wonderful to see that you're back on the site! I agree that, while probably a blatant MJ ripoff, $200 is a fair price for something so lovely!

I like both the bags a good deal, 900 vs. 200 is a compelling argument, though!

Not sure if you are aware of this but one of the leading designers @ Marc Jacobs now designs for the Gap...seeing as it goes Old Navy, Gap and then Banana Republic it makes some sense why there are similiarities :) I bought the brown leather carry all (which I love though it was quite pricey!!) and was chatting with a sales associate who advised that the designer for MJ (who works for Gap) designed the Bloomsbury line...

I have been shopping for the perfect fall bag for weeks and finally I just bought the banana republic bloomsbury pocket tote. Yes it was pricey ($300) but being my birthday I went ahead and got it. Just wanted to say how much I LOVE it. oh and I was talking to a associate who told me the bags are life time guarantee as long as you have your receipt.

My best friend came to visit me and she had the Banana Republic Bloomsbury bag in the Bordeaux. I have many expensive logo bags and I have to say this bag was so beautiful, I new I had to have it. It's no longer available on-line in the Bordeaux but I called customer service and they located a store for me that had it. I can't wait to get it!
